Stop cleaning your gutters. For good.
Professionally fitted micro-mesh guards that shed poplar fluff, elm leaf and shingle grit — sized to your trough profile, not clipped on top of it.
Three things clog your gutters. Guards stop all three.
Edmonton throws things at your eavestroughs that other cities don't. Cottonwood seed in June mats into a felt over the outlet. Elm and poplar leaf drops in October can fill a trough in two weeks. And every prairie hailstorm strips granules off your shingles straight into the channel.
Cheap plastic screen lets all three through. Foam inserts absorb them and rot. The right micro-mesh — fitted under the shingle course and flush to the trough lip — sheds debris over the edge while water drains freely.
- Ends seasonal cleaning on most homes
- Prevents ice dams by keeping the channel clear to drain
- Keeps pests out of the trough cavity
- Sized to your exact trough profile — aluminum or steel
- Installed with no damage to shingles or fascia
Edmonton's three gutter killers
Poplar fluff & cottonwood seed
June brings a blizzard of cottonwood seed that mats over outlets like felt. A standard cleaning can't stop it coming back — only a fine mesh underneath it can.
Elm & poplar leaf drop
Edmonton's mature elms drop all at once in October. Without guards, that leaf mass compacts over winter and turns into a frozen plug that cracks seams and lifts hangers by March.
Shingle granules & hail grit
Prairie hailstorms strip granules off shingles and they settle in the trough. Over seasons they pack the outlet collar solid — and no amount of cleaning reverses the grit left behind.
Drag the handle. Same trough, same day.
Every guard install ends with a clean flush and before-and-after photos sent before the invoice.
We fit the guard to the job — not the other way around.
One product doesn't work on every roofline. We assess pitch, trough width, tree type and roof material before recommending anything.

Micro-mesh aluminium guard
Stainless-steel mesh bonded to an aluminium frame. Sheds cottonwood seed and shingle grit that defeats every coarser product. Fits under the first shingle course so it can't be lifted by ice or blown off in wind.

Solid surface reverse-curve
Water clings around the curved nose and drops into the trough; heavy debris falls past. Best suited to rooflines with large elm or poplar directly overhead where volume overwhelms mesh.

Heritage & premium profiles
Aluminium and heavy-gauge steel guards for heritage homes, commercial troughs and oversized 6-inch profiles. Same micro-mesh filtration, heavier frame to match the original material spec.
From your first call to a clean roofline.
Free roof-line check
We walk the full perimeter, note tree species, trough profile and pitch, and take photos. You get the report before we quote anything.
One fixed written price
One number, itemised by run. Nothing changes on invoice day. We recommend the right guard for your specific trees and roofline — not the most expensive option.
Full clean first, then fit
We never fit over debris. Every trough is hand-scooped and flushed before a guard goes on, so you're starting fresh underneath.
Photo report & done
Before-and-after photos of each elevation land in your inbox. You pay once you've seen the work. Most homes are finished in a single day.
Questions we get every week about guards.
Micro-mesh does, yes. Coarse plastic screen and foam fail here because cottonwood seed mats over or inside them. The key is aperture size — our mesh is fine enough to shed the fluff while passing even a light rainfall rate. We still recommend a yearly top-side inspection, but most homeowners go two or three seasons without needing a clean.
No — and they actually reduce the risk of dams. Ice dams form when a blocked trough traps standing water that freezes. A guard keeps debris out so the channel stays clear to drain the moment temperatures rise above zero. The guard itself sits flat to the roof and doesn't interrupt normal snow melt patterns.
In most cases we fit onto your existing trough. If the fascia board is soft, a seam has split, or the trough is no longer pitched correctly, we'll flag it and quote the repair alongside the guard install — it doesn't make sense to cover a failing trough. That's what the roof-line check is for.
Guard installation is priced per linear foot of trough, based on the guard type and roof access. A standard bungalow typically runs $400–$750 installed, a two-storey $650–$1,200. You get a fixed written number after the roof-line check — no surprises on invoice day.
No. As long as we have gate and yard access, most customers are at work. You'll get a text when the crew arrives, a call if we spot anything unexpected, and the photo report in your inbox when we leave.
Quality aluminium-framed micro-mesh guards last 20+ years under normal Alberta conditions. The stainless-steel mesh is corrosion-resistant and won't degrade from UV. The main failure mode on cheap guards is the plastic frame cracking at −30°C — that's why we only install aluminium and steel framed products.
